As IDC's Senior Vice President & Chief Analyst, Frank Gens guides IDC's research into broad IT industry trends, particularly the strategic adoption of technology by Global 2000 businesses and the industries in which they compete.

Mr. Gens is the producer of IDC eXchange (http://blogs.idc.com/ie), IDC¡¯s blog and podcast on the state and future of the IT industry, and is a frequent speaker at executive forums around the world. He is the author of IDC Predictions, the company's annual forecast of major changes in the global development and use of technology. Mr. Gens is a member of IDC's worldwide management team, a lead developer of IDC's global research architecture, and a member of IDC's Research Quality Board.

Mr. Gens is a 25 year veteran of the IT research and advisory services business, including over 15 years at IDC in a variety of senior roles, including leading IDC's end-user research business and developing IDC's global Internet research capabilities. He is well-known for his provocative and accurate forecasts of IT industry change, and the impact of those changes on business and industry.

In addition to research management roles, Mr. Gens' career includes senior positions in new product development and introduction, product management, marketing, business development, corporate development, and regional operations management. Prior to IDC, Mr. Gens held management positions at International Data Group (IDG), AMR Research and The Yankee Group.

Vice President, Consumer and Broadband Markets, IDC
Danielle Levitas is the vice president of IDC's Consumer and Broadband Markets group. She is responsible for driving research initiatives within the services. In addition to writing analysis on the digital TV and DVD markets, Ms. Levitas serves as IDC¡¯s consumer market expert and conducts custom consulting research across the segment. She is a driven professional with a strong commitment to customer service, advising her clients on a variety of industry trends and developments.

The Consumer Markets programs track trends in gaming, digital audio, digital television, set-top boxes, TV services, DVD, online consumer behavior, home networking, and more. The Broadband Markets and Technologies program tracks consumer and enterprise broadband adoption by technology. Included in all of these services are global forecasts of the technologies based on unit shipments or subscribers, revenues, and average selling price, as well as extensive vendor analysis on market positioning and segment trends. The group also conducts numerous surveys throughout the year to create a solid foundation for the research.

In 2001, Ms. Levitas launched IDC's Interactive Consumer Services programs, expanding IDC's coverage in gaming and TV research. In 2004, she expanded IDC¡¯s consumer research products to create dedicated programs for the home networking and audio markets and helped launch IDC¡¯s regional consumer research programs. Prior to joining IDC's Consumer Device and Technologies service in 2000, she was a research manager for IDC's storage service, responsible for conducting research on the worldwide storage market. Since joining IDC's Storage program in 1995, Ms. Levitas focused on the worldwide Winchester disk drive market and its components and in 1998, launched IDC's first U.S. Storage Mechanism end-user survey, which identified market trends for storage in consumer and commercial environments. In 1999, she created IDC's first hard disk drive forecast by consumer application. Ms. Levitas has a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Program VP, Clients and Displays, IDC
Bob O'Donnell, IDC¡¯s Program VP, Clients and Displays, has a lengthy, multi-faceted career in the computer and high-tech industry. Mr. O¡¯Donnell is responsible for tracking the latest and most important hardware developments that impact PCs, notebooks, handheld devices, information appliances, and other consumer devices. He also leads IDC¡¯s display research program, where he tracks both the sales and technology trends affecting the worldwide market for computer displays, projectors, and related technologies.

In addition, Mr. O'Donnell is the author of Personal Computer Secrets, originally published by IDG Books, a 936-page reference volume on all aspects of computer technology and usage. He also hosts ¡°O¡¯Donnell on Technology,¡± which was selected as the Best Computer Audio program in the country-either over the air or on the web-in the 15th Annual Computer Press Awards competition. The program, which is broadcast every Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on San Francisco ABC radio affiliate KSFO (560 AM), is also the #1-rated computer call-in talk show in Silicon Valley.

Mr. O'Donnell is also a highly regarded speaker, having given talks or participated in panels at numerous trade shows and conferences around the world. He's widely quoted in the major press, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes, BusinessWeek and many more. He¡¯s also the founder and webmaster for the popular EverythingTechnology (www.everythingtechnology.com) and EverythingComputers (www.everythingcomputers.com) web sites.

O'Donnell began his work in the high-tech industry at Music Technology magazine, and then moved on to the editor role at Electronic Musician magazine. During his tenure there, the magazine was awarded a prestigious Western Publisher's Association Maggie Award for Best Special Interest publication.

After several years in the music industry, O'Donnell became Executive Editor/Reviews at MacWeek, where he helped create MacWeek's lab facilities and was involved in the development of the MacBench benchmark. O'Donnell also served as Features Editor at PC/Computing magazine and as Executive Editor of InfoWorld Electric/InfoWorld.com, the website for InfoWorld magazine. For 3 1/2 years, O'Donnell wrote InfoWorld Electric¡¯s popular "Plugged In" weekly column, which was featured numerous times at CNN.com. His writing has appeared in magazines all over the world.

In television, O'Donnell served as the computer expert for Knowledge TV¡¯s "Meeting the Challenge" program. He's also been a featured reporter on the nationally syndicated "Silicon Valley Business" program and has been a frequent guest on several other shows, including TechTV¡¯s (formerly ZDTV) "Silicon Spin" and "Call for Help" and BayTV's "All Consuming."

O'Donnell is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, with a B.A. in the Program of Liberal Studies, an interdisciplinary humanities program based on the Great Books.

Director, Mobility, IDC
Shiv K. Bakhshi is currently the director in charge of mobility research at IDC.

Dr. Bakhshi plans and directs IDC's worldwide research efforts pertaining to mobility, including mobile phones, converged devices and mobile applications (both consumer and enterprise related). In addition to Mobility Markets, he directs and oversees IDC's Worldwide Handheld and Mobile Phone Q-Views as well as IDC's Mobility Metrics research. Along with his team, he provides research and consulting services in areas covering mobile industry dynamics, mobile technologies, competitive strategies of industry players, as well as the end-user needs shaping the handheld device market.

Before assuming his current role, Dr. Bakhshi was the director of IDC's worldwide wireless and mobile infrastructure practice, with a special focus on the opportunities and challenges facing infrastructure vendors selling radio access and core network equipment to mobile network operators worldwide.

Specializing in mobility and device markets, Dr. Bakhshi is a recognized expert in wireless network migration and convergence as well as in mobile devices and wireless broadband markets. Among the top-rated speakers at IDC, Dr. Bakhshi has presented on a broad range of topics, including mobility, convergence and IMS. A frequent speaker at industry and academic conferences, he has presented, among other fora, at CTIA, TelecomNext, SuperComm, 3GSM, ComNet, Harvard University, IDC Directions, Indian Institutes of Management, George Mason University, International Communications Association and the National Communication Association.

Prior to joining IDC, Dr. Bakhshi was the Principal Telecommunications Analyst for Standard & Poor's Global Industry Insight (GII) group. In that role, he headed the group's effort at mapping the global telecommunications industry for S&P's web-based vertical product.

In his earlier life, Dr. Bakhshi was a professor at the University of Kentucky's College of Communication and Information Studies, where he taught courses in U.S. and international telecommunications and directed graduate and doctoral research in various aspects of telecommunications, public policy and the information economy. His own research focused on strategic alliances among global telecom operators, on telecommunications and economic development, and on the institutional reforms restructuring the telecom sector worldwide.

Before academia, Shiv worked as a news reporter and editor on several newspapers in India and the United States. Shiv has a B.A. in Economics from Calcutta University, Calcutta, India. He earned an M.A. in Telecommunications and a Ph. D. in Communication, both from the Ohio State University.

He works out of IDC's headquarters in Framingham, MA.

Soo-Kyoum Kim

Program Director, Semiconductors Research, IDC
Soo Kyoum Kim is the Program Director of IDC's Semiconductors research program. He is responsible for in-depth analysis, evaluation, forecasting, and research of memory semiconductor areas such as DRAM and Flash.

Mr.Kim has more than twelve years of experience in the semiconductor industry as a field-sales person, and marketing & strategic planning analyst. His career includes a memory marketing manager position with Samsung Electronics. His work covered areas such as short-term and midterm strategic planning (one to five years), market sizing, customer/competitor analysis, memory supply/demand trends, and capacity and pricing trends. In addition, he has built and maintained relationships with members of the press at major semiconductor-related print media (including EBN, EN, Electronics Components and newspapers like the Asian Wallstreet Jounal), WSTS(Worldwide Semiconductor Trade Statistics), and with executives and planning managers at several semiconductor manufacturers and OEMs. He was an owner of semiconductor program in the Asia Pacific region.

Mr. Kim earned a M.B.A. degree in business administration (International Business) at Seoul National University in Korea.

Associate Director, Consulting Group, IDC Korea
Yong Lee is the Associate Director of Consulting Group in IDC Korea. He is responsible for consulting sales, fulfillment, and managing consulting project. His consulting areas include PC, Peripherals, Commercial Systems & Servers, Storage, Software, IT Services, Telecommunications & Data communications, and Internet. In his role, he coordinates consulting service with IDC regional and worldwide analysts.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Lee was the President of KMI Research which was IT market research & consulting company in Korea. Before KMI Research, he was the Director of Research for IT Research Co. which was spun off from former IDC agency in Korea. Before that, he worked at Dataquest Korea as the analyst of CAPS group and at ResearchAsia as a PC analyst.
